ADDISON, TEXAS
Addison is one of the Dallas area´s most popular destinations and as a result is most deserving of the nickname, the "Heart of Dallas." This city features more than 200 restaurants, a well-balanced business community, bountiful shopping opportunities and a host of cultural and recreational activities. All of these features and others provide this unique town with diversity that is similar to a big city while maintaining a small town ambiance. While the actual population is just over 15,000 residents, the city swells to nearly 100,000 during the workday thanks to the city´s unique mix of office, warehouse, retail and hotel. Addison is a town with a rich historical background. From as early as 1846, Addison and its residents have played a significant role in the development of Dallas and the surrounding communities. Landmarks like Stonegate Hall and the Addison School Building, demonstrate the community's pride in its heritage. The community is located about 15 minutes north of Dallas, near the intersection of Interstates 635 and the Dallas North Tollway (289). Addison´s growth has been spurred, in part, by its incredible selection of restaurants. In 1975, an election to allow liquor by the drink served in town was a major attribute to the expansion of businesses and restaurants. All combined, Addison's restaurants and eating establishments can seat over 20,000 patrons at one time.

Single-family properties begin at about $160,000 and run up to $1 million plus for estate properties offering acreage, additional rooms, lake and golf course frontage and recreational amenities.
MORE
While Addison is better than 90 percent built out, prime real estate remains and redevelopment opportunities at and near the Addison Airport are anticipated for the future. New developments include the 374,000 square foot Millennium office building and the smaller 100,000 square foot Parkside Corporate Center buildings that completed in 2000. An additional 324,000 square feet of office/warehouse/showroom space to the northeast of the Addison Airport at the corner of Westgrove Drive and Excel Parkway also finished construction in 2001.
For residents, one of the main draws to the Addison area is the abundance of things to do. The Parks and Recreation Department oversees over 118 acres of parklands in the town. Les Lac Linear Park is the largest and features a 2.5 mile lighted jogging and bike trail, a pond, two playgrounds, picnic tables and several sport facilities. The park is located right across from the Addison/Trinity Complex. Addison has a joint agreement with the Trinity Christian Academy to share some facilities when the school is not in session. The complex includes a recreation center with indoor basketball, volleyball, recreational classes and other amenities.

Located a short drive away is the Brookhaven College and the University of Texas at Dallas.
Addison is located in an area that was once called Peters Colony. The history of this town dates back to 1846 when Preston Witt built a house on White Rock Creek. The area was not known as Addison until 1902 and was named after Addison Robertson, who served as the community´s second postmaster. The city was incorporated on June 15, 1953.
Addison continues to be a vital and growing town. Building on past successes in office space, hotels, restaurants, retail, and residential, Addison is a town for today and for tomorrow.
